Jordan Brand is expected to pay tribute to one of the most influential figures in sports history with the release of the Air Jordan 4 OG “Jackie Robinson” on April 15, 2027—the 80th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking Major League Baseball’s color barrier.
Robinson made history on April 15, 1947, when he took the field for the Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first African American player in the modern era of Major League Baseball. His courage, perseverance, and excellence forever changed the game and helped pave the way for future generations of athletes.
The commemorative Air Jordan 4 is expected to honor Robinson’s groundbreaking legacy through a special colorway of one of Jordan Brand’s most iconic silhouettes. Initial predictions assigns an aesthetic that borrows heavily from the classic”White Cement” colorway, but with Dodger blue showing up on the ends of the “Wings”, backing the tongue (which also reads “ROBINSON”), as well as the outsole. One of the rear heels swaps out the standard “NIKE AIR” branding for a blue “42”, Robinson’s number.
